Speaking & Events
Note: I’m taking a break from presentations and appearances for the 2012 calendar year. – Jill

Classroom Visits
I have spoken at CEGEPs, high schools, junior high schools, festivals and libraries in Quebec, Ontario and the Maritimes, before audiences ranging from pre-teens to adults. I’d be happy to work with you to tailor a lecture or workshop to the needs of your students, audience or curriculum. Just get in touch at mail [at] jillmurray [dot] com, and we can take it from there!
I’ve prepared a PDF with info about my classroom visits:

I’ve also got a classroom discussion guide for Rhythm and Blues, that you can download right here. It includes discussion questions, thematic links, projects, and an author interview that can help you work with the book in class, and prepare for a classroom visit with me.
School Bookings & Financial Assistance
In Ontario I am represented by the Authors Booking Service. I’m also a member of the Writers Union of Canada– their programme with the Ontario Arts Council may be able to help you secure financial assistance for a school visit with me.
In Quebec I am a part of the Writers In CEGEPs and Writers in Schools programmes sponsored by UNEQ and the QWF.
Testimonials
“Jill is a gifted writer and a very effective public speaker. She is engaged in every way in the stories of the world around her, whether through research, travel, media, or more traditional readings and workshops… She is able to tailor her apporach depending on her listeners, a skill that cannot be taken for granted.”– Shannon Babcock

On Presentations for Teens
“I teach Jill’s first novel, Break On Through, to my Intro to College Literature classes at Vanier College, in Montreal Quebec. Not only do my students enjoy the novel, but it is a book that provides a breadth of potential themes and topics for in-class assignments and discussions…
…Jill was a dynamic and engaging speaker whose presentation integrated various forms of media and kept the students entertained.” — Erin MacLeod, Professor
“Jill’s presentation/workshop was well received by the students at Clayton Park Junior High. They learned a great deal about how an author plans and writes a book, but more importantly, they learned how rewarding and fun it is to express yourself through writing and to share your work with a reading audience.” — Kelley McLeod, Principal

On “Cut Through The Noise… Build Your Online Platform”
“Amazingly informative, lots to think about and such a cool-headed performance! Thanks, Jill!” — Suana Verelst, Illustrator
“Your presentation was delightfully disarming and considerate that many of us “creatives” can be intimidated by the world wide web. Thank you so very much.”– Stella Denommee, Inspirations by Stella
“I really enjoyed hearing you speak. You helped me a lot by breaking down the scary (to me) platform components of Facebook, Twitter, etc…”– Kathryn Donaldson, Writer
