About Me
Born in Toronto and raised in Montreal, Jill Murray is the author of two contemporary urban novels for young adults: Break On Through (2008), and Rhythm and Blues (2010), both published by Doubleday Canada.
Lauded by Quill & Quire, CM Magazine, and the Montreal Review of Books, Break on Through was named a Best Book for Kids & Teens by the Canadian Children’s Book Centre in 2009, and has been a curriculum book for Canadian Identity in Literature and Intro to College English classes at Vanier College in Quebec.
LGBT-friendly Rhythm and Blues hit shelves in February, 2010, and is again garnering Murray early recognition for her portrayal of characters from minority backgrounds as strong teen role models.
As a speaker, Jill has brought her writer talks and workshops to Harbourfront Centre’s prestigious ALOUD festival (Toronto), and schools & libraries around Quebec, Ontario and the Maritimes.
She has been profiled in publications such as The Toronto Star, Exclaim!, and the Montreal Mirror, on television in YTV’s The Zone, and in Toronto, Montreal and national programmes for CBC Radio 1.
In 2011, she joined the Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2012 team at Ubisoft Montreal, and began her career in Game Writing.
She lives in Montreal.
