Break on Through… the movie?
I am thrilled to announce that Break On Through has been optioned for film by Defiant Entertainment.
From their web site: “Defiant Entertainment is a Toronto based entertainment company that produces award-winning film and television programs. Most recently the company completed season II of the highly acclaimed television series ‘da Kink in my Hair.”
What does this mean? Well, there are a lot of steps between optioning a novel for film and getting it up on a screen… little things like securing financing, and finding great screenwriters and… other… film… stuff… (hey, I’m a novelist not a filmmaker ;-D) The important thing for now is that for everyone who wants to know when Break On Through will be a movie (and some days it seems like that’s practically everyone I talk to!) my answer has officially been upgraded from a sheepish “dunno” to an enthusiastic “maybe someday!”
