Montreal media shout-outs & see you tomorrow?
Hello! I hope your May is unfolding fabulously. I’ve got a couple of new media clippings to share with you:
- First up, a lovely piece by Erin McLeod in this week’s Montreal Mirror. At the end of our interview, she had me name 2 classic YA books and 3 contemporary ones on the spot. The resulting list is both really good reading, and a harrowing glimpse into my disorganized mind/shelves. I’d give $10 to the first person who could help me figure out what any one book on that list has in common with any other!
Can she kick it? -
Then there’s this fun article by Raffy Boudjikanian in the West Island Chronicle. Raffy thinks the transit situation in Nadine’s fictional Toronto suburb sounds a lot like the West Island. I’m glad he can relate (But not that glad. I wish public transit was easy and efficient for everyone.) but I don’t know how to break it to him that the West Island is a transit Eden compared to vast swaths of the GTA. Montrealers, love your STM/ATM.
Hop to it and read hip book -
And finally, we have a review! A real review. And they like the book: “Jill Murray’s Break on Through is a YA novel with substance and style, much like its heroine Nadine”
Young Readers: Jill Murray’s Break On Through
And finally, just a reminder that I’ll be doing a reading tomorrow, May 10th, at Babar Books in Pointe-Claire (46 Ste-Anne St, Pointe-Claire) at 3pm, with b-girl Feisty from Solid State. I hope to see you there if you’re in town and can make it!
