Break On Through comes out in just 4 more sleeps– on Tuesday!
Then on Wednesday, I’m reading at ALOUD.
And then, because I wouldn’t want to burn through all the excitement in just two days, the Toronto release party happens on Saturday February 16th at Street Dance Academy.
So this is your one week warning: start choosing your outfit now. You don’t want to miss this party.
In case you’ve forgotten, it’s going to start at 7:30, and go to 11. It’s all-ages, and its your chance to
- Get down to the turntable stylings of the one and only DJ Dalia
- See MCs More Or Les, Sunny D, and Abdominal all in one place, for one night only
- Be the first to witness a public re-enactment of Breakdown Lane, a scene from the book, by some of tomorrow’s illest b-girls
- Witness the carnage of an SDA student-teacher battle.
And if that’s not enough for you, how about this:
Nadine’s Mixtape:the official limited-edition soundtrack of Break On Through– 17 tracks of pure awesome, mixed by More Or Les & DJ Dalia, and brought to you by some of our finest hip hop virtuosos, coast to coast– Abdominal, Eternia, Ghettosocks, Ghislain Poirier, Green TaRA, Jesse Dangerously, Kil / Les / Kil, Masia One, More Or Les, Rhythmicru, Shad, SJ The Wordburglar, Sunny D & The Extremities. You’ll old favourites, long-lost b-sides and twisted new remixes.
The catch is, you can ONLY get this in person, or if you’re super-lucky, by winning one, and ONLY until I run out. You can increase your odds by coming to the release party, where you will definitely have a chance at scoring one if you come get a book signed. (My book, preferably…)
So, commit it to memory, or export it to your address book: Break On Through Free All-Ages Release Party February 16, 2008 7:30–11pm at Street Dance Academy, 160 Spadina Ave., Toronto.
If you want to grab the flyer to send to your friends, you can find it on my events page.
See you there!

You will love it. There are not one, but TWO songs about bicycles on it.

Hey Jill - how do I get a signed copy of the book in Vancouver? Buy it on Amazon, mail it to you, and include pre-paid postage to mail it on back?
I’m so excited for you!
:)Katie

That is a good question. I have not yet decoded the mechanics of Vancouver. I know I have to get out that way sometime. The Maritimes, too. I will keep you posted for sure.
