Rain, rain go away

Les frowns at rain.

“That’s it. I’m never trusting the Weather Network again. I’m taking them off my toolbar. They’re Out. It’s over.”

The weather station at the airport in Dorval is totally inadequate for predicting, or even describing current weather on the other side of the mountain, where most of us live. When I wrote this, it was pouring and the Weather Network was calling for no rain for two days, claiming it was currently sunny with scattered clouds. What up, weather dudes?

Meanwhile, Google’s weather is usually pretty accurate, but that’s probably because of that guy they hired to follow you around all day, and hide behind lamp posts, punching notes into his Blackberry about everything you’re up to.

I found that in Toronto too!

I use CBC weather and the weather network and cross compare now–I use CBC for events and WN for how much (like, mm of rain).

Wow Chrisa, that is like, super-scientifical. Les is going to be impressed.

You’re not trying to steal my boyfriend, are you?

I still rely on CP24’s weather reporting, but I am totally smitten by Claire Martin on Newsworld. She’s funny, she’s smart, she sounds like she’s genuinely having a good time each broadcast, and she’s quick with the occasional political jab.

There was a very good This Hour Has 22 Minutes skit featuring Sean Majumder as Ian Hanomansing interrupting the weather broadcast to declare his secret, burning love for Claire (played by a guest… can’t remember who).

ps - good photo and great scowl on les’ part - hurt, loss, anger, frustration, and a hint of low blood sugar are all suggested.

And don’t forget the prodding by the girlfriend, and the waving of the camera in the face.

I think Claire Martin must be the male public’s favorite weather person. Guys everywhere seem to have a thing for her. CBC should just keep her on all day, every day. Maybe the ratings would go up!

No way, Andrea - before she took off on mat leave, City’s Nalini Sharma produced some rather blunt commentary amongst people with my kinda chromosomes. The usual spate of weather-prediction-paraphenalia suggestions, and some out-and-out crudity.

Also, my tv is so bad I can barely tell what Martin looks like. But you could see that grin from space.
