Egads, internet, it’s been so long. I have so much to tell you. But I think I’ll just tell you one post at a time, or my head will explode, trying to weave it all into one coherent entry with a theme and matching photo.
First things first: I am so not on my honeymoon right now. At least I hope I’m not, because if I am, let me tell you, it is sucking.
I’m in my kitchen, working on work, because Les and I did not get married in April.
I don’t want you to panic, Internet. We actually canceled the wedding in November, I just never got around to writing about it. Everything is Fine©, we are still Together™, so don’t be like my mom, and try to read sinister things into the tone of my voice on my outgoing voice mail message, and don’t be chatting Les up at Hip Hop Karaoke on Thursday at The Boat, trying to take him home with you. That will only end in embarrassment and/or bloodshed, because everything is A-OK with us, and I’ve been a little free and easy with my elbows and steeltoes lately.
This experience has not been without its periods of grief, but on the up side, since November, I haven’t had to plan a wedding. (You might remember from this post how much I was enjoying planning the wedding.) Not that we canceled the wedding over my distaste for wedding planning. Not that anyone should ever feel that’s an invalid reason for canceling a wedding. Anyone out there who wants to cancel a wedding just so they don’t have to plan it has my full blessing. A lot of weddings are Out Of Control® lately, if you ask me.
For the record, Internet, no I don’t have a problem with marriage, sure, Les and I might still get married some day, and when you run into one of us on the street, there’s really no need to introduce either of us to your friends as “This is Les/Jill, he/she is Jilll/Les’… uh… geee…. girlfriend/boyfriend? Fiancé? Partner? Gosh, I just don’t know what to call you anymore.” If you set off down that road, I will probably just watch in silence as you flounder on the sidewalk. I’m not going to feel uncomfortable about this. I know we made the right decision.

who was trying to pick up Les at HHK?
yay for you on this one. weddings seem to be about time suckage, and another attempt for families to “know what’s best” for their children.

No one. That was a joke. I was sending a warning into the future.
