So it’s not just my imagination

Toronto is now the 47th most expensive city in the world, up from 82nd place last year.

I have no idea what that means in real numbers, but I can tell you that it feels like Toronto is a giant financial vice grip that tightens by about 35 turns of the screw every year.

A few places in the world that are less expensive to live in than TO, and which still don’t suck:

  • PRAGUE
  • VANCOUVER
  • MOST OF SPAIN
  • A LARGE CHUNK OF GERMANY
  • ATHENS
  • LUXEMBOURG
  • GLASGOW
  • HONOLULU
  • MELBOURNE
  • MONTREAL
  • SEATTLE

And that’s just the cities I could list before I got bored of reading the list.

Spain? Really? I hear the only way to afford real estate there is to inherit it. Luxembourg? It has “luxe” in it. Seattle? Geez.

I don’t know what to think exactly, but TO is definitely getting more expensive and there are at least half a dozen cities on that list that I’d rather live in anyway.
