Fighting competition with unoriginality

As far as I can tell, this saga implies that if Rogers ever had any ideas, they have now officially run out.

  1. It all started when Bell started running rather endearing pixel art animation ads that people actually liked.
  2. Then Bell released the ad affectionately known as Cheetah, which only aired a few times before Rogers succeeded in having it pulled from the airwaves. Click here to watch
  3. Now Rogers is running these, ahem, somewhat familiar looking ads online:

I can see them explaining it now. “No, see, ours are red and grey. Theirs are mainly blue. It’s totally different.”

Meanwhile, Rogers remains creative with its billing. If the brains over there can’t find anything to do with that energy, you’d think they could at least put some of their spare stacks of hidden-fee change into some decent creative campaigns.

I imagine it is only a matter of time before Rogers introduces a pair of wise crakcing Canadian otters as thier new spokesrodents.

Hi Jill. I work at/for/under Rogers, in the Blackberry dept, but I also handle cell phones. I couldn’t agree more about our advertising. We SO need to get a new agency, as our ad’s have ‘inhaled sharply through pursed lips’ since I started working here.

As for your Rogers experience…how can I be of service? ;)

Gosh? Can you ask your boss’ boss’ boss to unbuy Sprint please?

And if you’d just stop charging a system access fee on my cel, that would be awesome.

AND, get them to change the plans around so the object of my having a phone isn’t to use it as seldom as possible. It’s like, I can’t CANCEL it, but I can’t actually USE it either.

I don’t actually WANT to hate my communications services providers, but as a group, y’all make it so hard not to.

Can you get them to do that? Awesome. Thanks so much for your help today.

RE: SAF: Can’t help with that. All the providers have it. Some hide it in their cost. We don’t. Sorry.

RE: Cell plan: There’s a promo plan that just expired, but if you push, it IS still available(basically, don’t take no for an answer, that you KNOW it’s still there, and you want it. Threaten to cancel if they don’t help you. You’ll get put through to “Customer Relations”, who will be more than happy to give you that plan if it means “saving” a customer): 700minutes, unlim E&W at 6pm = $50/mth.

Frankenbass, I’m confused. Is this YOUR web site, or are you just recommending it to us?

Either way, it’s really cool! I didn’t realize there were Olympicesque pixel ads as well.
