I have my first really-post on Torontoist.com today.
I essentially spent the weekend trying to find one vegan menu combo in Toronto’s “Winterlicious” experience, and couldn’t, and then decided the vegetarian options were pretty bleak too, and so I made it all into a blog post:

This sounds alot like the ‘Dine Out Vancouver’ experience which just ended, after 2 weeks of set menus at $15, $25, or $35. We didn’t go to any of it, and infact, had to change plans at the last minute because we weren’t aware that a restaurant we had planned on going to one night was participating, and was thus a) waaaay too busy and b) didn’t have a veggie option on their set menu.
Well said.

Great article! I was at the Calgary Food Festival a few months ago, and it was the same thing. In fact they even had a beef dish contest… so you can imagine how many vegetables were in the spotlight there…

Hey Jill - I don’t know if you read on my blog that the Winnipeg Free Press is printing an article that I wrote. I just wanted you to know - that I have YOU to thank for it. After reading your article on the Torontoist, you inspired me to write something about a recent Dine-Out Winnipeg event and the complete lack of vegetarian fare and they are going to print it! I’m very excited as this will be my first time being published.
